Halloween is passed and now it’s time to gear up for Thanksgiving. Since we are planning on having people over for Thanksgiving dinner I’ve been thinking about how we should decorate the table. I love the vibrant colors of fall flowers but feel as though they too often just blend together without giving a significant “pop.” So I’ve been looking around for ideas and wondering what kind of color combinations will offer what I’m looking for.
Most of the arrangements I’ve come across feature varying shades of orange and red which are nice but they just kind of blend. So as I look around our house I realize that blue/green is an accent color in our living room which is right next to the dining room (conveniently). Actually, the main floor of our house is one big room that encompasses the living room, dining room and kitchen – excellent for chatting with family or guests while cooking! Back to the accent color, so since blue/green is used then I’m looking for a way to incorporate those colors in a floral arraignment.
As it turns out an absolutely stunning one is available! A brilliant combination of blue iris, orange lilies (I adore lilies), and orange tulips; honestly though, I think the iris and lily combination works well without the tulips. Since I have now found something that peaks my interest but isn’t exactly what I want I can visit my local florist and see what they have in stock and what their prices are. I enjoy shopping locally and believe in the benefits it provides to the local community.
After a quick search on yellowpages.com, I’ve learned that there are approximately 70 florists in the Colorado Springs area and at least 30 of those are within a 10 mile radius of my home. Score! Looks like I’ll be visiting some local florist shops in the next couple of weeks!
